Mello Tax Group, LLC, operating as ScorpConvert ("we", "us", "our"), respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It applies to information we collect on this website, through our intake forms, and through related communications.
1. Information we collect
- Identity and contact information: name, business name, email, phone number.
- Tax and business information: Employer Identification Number (EIN), entity type, formation state, ownership details, estimated net income, payroll details, and any documents you upload to prepare your filings.
- Payment information: processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card number.
- Technical information: IP address, browser type and version, device information, referring URLs, pages viewed, and timestamps.
- Cookies and similar technologies: see Section 7.
2. Why we collect it
- To provide our tax services, including preparing and filing IRS Form 2553 and related state elections.
- To communicate with you about your engagement, filings, and account.
- To comply with IRS recordkeeping rules and the practitioner standards in Treasury Department Circular 230.
- To protect the security and integrity of our systems, prevent fraud, and enforce our Terms of Service.
- To improve our website and services.
3. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers and government agencies necessary to deliver our services:
- Resend for transactional and notification email.
- Supabase for application hosting, database, and file storage.
- TaxBandits for IRS e-file transmission of 1099 and related forms.
- DocuSign for engagement letters and electronic signatures.
- Stripe for payment processing.
- Telnyx for fax transmission of paper-only IRS forms (where required).
- The Internal Revenue Service and applicable state tax agencies in the course of filing on your behalf.
Each of these subprocessors is contractually obligated to handle your information confidentially and only for the purposes we direct.
4. How long we keep it
We retain client tax records, working papers, and supporting documents for at least seven (7) years from the end of the tax year to which they relate, consistent with IRS recordkeeping rules and the practitioner standards in Treasury Department Circular 230. We may keep certain records longer if required by law or to defend against legal claims. When the retention period expires, we delete or anonymize the records.
5. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights:
California (CCPA / CPRA)
- Right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it.
- Right to delete personal information, subject to the seven-year tax retention requirement above.
- Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.
European Economic Area / United Kingdom (GDPR / UK GDPR)
- Right of access to your personal data.
- Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten"), subject to legal retention requirements.
- Right to data portability in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
- Right to restriction of processing and right to object to processing.
- Right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

6. Security
We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted transport (TLS), encrypted storage at rest, role-based access controls, and audit logging. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work continuously to maintain a strong security posture.
7. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies. Essential cookies keep the site running and remember your sign-in session and preferences. Analytics and marketing cookies are off by default and only load if you opt in via our cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser storage for this site; the banner will reappear on your next visit.
8. Children
Our services are not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be communicated by email or by a prominent notice on the site.
